Awards
Recognition in the Society tends to arrive quietly at first — someone notices what you've been doing before you notice it yourself. This page is about how that recognition works here, not a ledger of who has received what; a member's own grants show on their persona page when they've received one.
What gets recognized
Broadly: service (the unglamorous work that keeps an event or an office running), martial achievement (skill and sportsmanship in armored combat, rapier, archery, or thrown weapons), and arts and sciences (research, craft, and teaching). None of these outranks the others — a Shire runs on all three at once.
How it happens
Anyone can bring forward someone they think deserves notice — you do not need to hold an office to suggest a name. From there it typically moves through the officer whose area it touches (a marshal for martial recognition, the Arts and Sciences Minister for A&S, the Seneschal for service) and, where a grant is significant enough, is presented formally in Court.
A note on titles
Award names, orders, and precedence vary by Kingdom and change over time, so this page deliberately doesn't list any — ask an officer, or watch a Court, to learn what this Shire's Kingdom actually uses.
